Wayne Sharpe
Chairman & Founder
Wayne is a pioneer in the digital age, utilising the internet’s global reach to link people with products through electronic exchange platforms.
After selling Bartercard’s flagship operation in Australia in 2007 ($25.5 million), Wayne attended the UN climate change conference in Bali, and shifted his technological and entrepreneurial skills to the global challenge of climate change. For the past 15 years Wayne has devoted himself to bridging the nexus between financial markets and the environment, creating marketplaces and platforms that make it simple, secure and transparent for finance to achieve environmental outcomes.
Lee Barton
Executive Director, CTO & COO
Miss Barton (Lee) is Chief Technology Officer (CTO) and Chief Operating Officer (COO).
As CTO she co-designs the CTX technology including new innovations, then manages the technology development testing, bug testing and remediation and development to the live platform which operates 24/7/365. She manages the Microsoft Azure infrastructure, the security systems, the banking interface and various technology interfaces with registries. Her resources include in-house developers and outsourced expert contractors as required.As COO she manages or co-manages the Senior Executives in CTX operations in the offices in Australia and London, UK and previously the USA.Lee has over 28 years’ experience in managing exchanges and exchange technology development and has worked with Wayne Sharpe for almost 30 years. She is the worlds leading technology expert in Carbon or Environmental Registries and Exchanges, having manged the development of multiple exchange, trading platforms and interfaces with over 15 3rd party carbon or environmental registries globally.An extremely efficient person capable of implementing and driving a wide range of business-critical initiatives and programmes, Lee oversees the delivery of all new development projects and enhancements to existing IP and ensures projects are scoped, built and delivered on time.
Previously she held various senior roles including Executive Director and Management for Bartercard International for over 18 years in London and Australia. During that tenure she also managed technology development for the support of Bartered Licenses in 20 countries, and her last role was to manage and implement the companies Initial Public Offering (IPO) onto the Australi Stock Exchange.
Since joining CTX in 2014 she has held Execuive in Australia and the USA, and she implemented and managed the development of the REGX Exchange for the Regulated markets in the USA – California, RGGI , WCI and others, which included bank interface with Wells Fargo Bank. (n.b. this tech is currently hibernated due to resources constraints).Lee as an Executive Director is also the Right Hand to the CEO and Founder
Jennifer Shung
Head of Global Trading
Jennifer manages international trading support for clients, and onboarding new CTX members as buyers, sellers or brokers. She also does direct Over the Counter (OTC) trades either with Cabon Trade eXchange Limited as corporate counterparty or ‘back-to-back’ off the CTX Exchange platform. Jennifer has quickly become an industry recognised leader and trader worldwide, since starting with CTX 3 years ago, and has been a speaker at events in Europe, Asia and the UK.
Originally from Hong Kong, she was Winner of the Rising Star Award at the 2023 EU Fintech Awards, that recognition means Jennifer has blazed a trail in the Carbon Credit trading market which her tenacious ability to source the best quality carbon credits for our CTX clients.
Jennifer brings her expertise in trading and customer relationship management when managing the buyer or sell-side trading within the Company. She sources and supplies carbon credits globally for the platform and CTX clients in OTC trading and is an integral focal point for project originators and the hundreds of CTX listed batches of credits.
Ms. Wei Sun
Global Head of Sales
Wei joined Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX) as a Business Development Manager in 2022. Within 18 months, she was promoted to Head of Global Sales due to her exceptional sales results . She is a dynamic and results-driven sales leader. As the Head of Global Sales at CTX, Wei excels in developing and nurturing her sales team and executing strategic sales initiatives that continually drives global revenue growth. Wei thrives in the sharing of knowledge and helping her team achieve their potential, both professionally and personally. She has built and maintains strong relationships with key stakeholders in the carbon market, enhancing client satisfaction and retention. Originally from Beijing, China, with over 8 years of sales management and training, experience, Wei decided to further her education in UK by completing her second (Mba) degree in 2022, joining CTX as she completed that degree in order to combine theory with practice. With an ever-deepening understanding of carbon markets and a passion for environmental stewardship, she leads a high-performing sales team dedicated to helping clients navigate and capitalize on carbon trading opportunities, helping to shape a more sustainable future.
Debbi Barnes
Executive Assistant to the CEO
Debbi joined Carbon Trade Exchange Limited (CTX) in October 2021 as Executive Assistant to Wayne Sharpe our CEO and Founder. In addition, she has taken on roles that include Company Secretary, part of the CTX technology development testing team, banking and Admin support. Working between the CEOs private office and the Main office in London, her track record shows that she works well under pressure, and thrives in a dynamic environment, which is a must at CTX (and GEM) as whilst she has a list of tasks and priorities, these change on a near-daily basis due to the nature of our business. She supports Wayne daily and other group directors as required in any way that she can so that they can focus on the business in hand.A highly conscientious Executive Assistant with over 15 years’ experience in supporting C-Level Executives and leading teams of PAs successfully. Well-versed in managing a high volume of projects, events, tasks and information to provide a comprehensive support service, delivering to the highest standards whilst maintaining a confidential and professional approach.
Daniele Mazzanobile
UK Office Manager
Daniele joined Carbon Trade Exchange as an office assistant in 2021. His evident passion for learning led him to a rapid rise through the ranks culminating in being promoted to the position of UK Office Manager in 2022.
Working behind the scenes, he leads the operations team, taking care of every client’s needs, from advising on membership and application queries to retirements certification. He has helped the company break records and set personal records through passion and determination to understand the client’s needs and deliver the best solution.
After years as an office administrator in Italy, Daniele moved to the UK for a new and exciting challenge that would offer him both life and world-changing experience. His time with the Carbon Trade Exchange has allowed him to be heavily involved in an industry vital to combat climate change.
