Global Carbon Registry – Making History in the UK.

Voluntary, Global and Technology focused: on Friday 6th April a new Registry was launched and issued its first Carbon Credits onto CTX. The first proejct is a stunning patented technology for heat and energy – listed under ‘Water Industrial Treatment of Effluent’ – and the proejct is in Dorset, England. The Registry has a series of these projects lined up to issue Credits this month, and has multiple technology or energy projects lined up, including Renewable Energy in Europe and Aisa , plus Methane Capture, Waste to Energy and many others. With a credit Standard to match the worlds best, based on enhanced ISO 14064 plus layers of additionality and permanence, the executives have no doubt they will meet the most rigid tests of High Quality Carbon Credits. The first two institutional buyers joined CTX this month, so expect rapid escalation in trading.

The GCR Registry is using Global Environmental Markets (GEM) registry technology, which is designed for regional or international Voluntary Carbon Standards and/or National Carbon Meta Registry – including the ability to issue ITMOs for qualifying nations under the Paris Agreement.

Thanks to the fully electronic interface with CTX projects can list (or de-list) credits direct from their Registry account, then they login to CTX to adjust price with immediate effect on the live platform. Buyers do not need a Registry account, as the ‘default’ is the ‘CTX Transfer Account’ which can then be either transferred to the CTX Retirement Account and a certificate issued with the purpose by CTX, or held under Escrow Agreement until they have a Registry account opened then transferred.  Buyers with a GCR Registry account see an instantaneous transfer of the credits to their account which they can then either retire or re-list for sale later.

CTX and Global Carbon Registry are offering a ‘2 for 1’ account opening deal for new clients – 50% off the Registry Account fee and the CTX Membership fees if you join in April or May – just use the CTX discount CODE: GCRspring when you sign up on CTX and then quote your account number to GCR.

Spring into Action – we did.

When CTX attended as Gold Sponsors of the IETA European Climate Summit in Lisbon Portugal recently, we were quite surprised how everyone said that the ‘Market is Dead ‘or ‘Flat’.   The CTX team were bemused  and wondered how we created the ‘bubble’ where that wasn’t the case for CTX in the beginning of the year. Our number of Transactions was down slightly (Jan/Feb as always quiet usually) but Average Credits per transaction was up by a staggering +254% on the 6 months to December 22.

Our data analyst is in India on extend sabbatical, so we have Data until 1st March.

Data will Rule

It’s something we get constant requests for , and given the massive and complex Data Sets we have very challenging to produce and regularly. Our Data analyst returns next week after a months sabbatical in India and GEMs technology development team are working hard to create stream-able data for premium clients.

This is going out weekly via Carbon Pulse but its very high level

BioCarbon Webinar massive success.

Over 100 people attended and 95%+ stayed for the entire hour:  We all know that webinars are a dime dozen and it’s easy to avoid them during business hours – or anytime really.  The session covered how CTX works, shared trade data rarely seen and our careful process of accrediting the Credit Standards and Registers we have curated into a list of ‘Best of Breed’.  BioCarbon showed why their standard is world class and Award Winning, the tens of millions of credits issued and retired over 4+ years, and  how they emerged from a small Credit Standard in South America covering mainly Nature Based /Forestry sectors, to an international powerhouse with offices in Europe, Africa, Colombia and Brazil and a four super sectors of focus including Renewable Energy and Transport.

For the additional 100+ who registered but couldn’t attend, we unfortunately didn’t record it , but another event will happen in the near future if we have the demand. Email info@ctxglobal.com  or info@BioCarbonRegistry.com  to register your interest.

For CTX we intend to run similar Webinars for Universal Carbon Registry and Global Carbon Registry in the coming weeks , but we are constrained as its ‘events season’ in Europe.

In only 2 weeks time CTX will be a Sponsor and have a stand at the London City and Financial Week event and CEO Wayne Sharpe will speak on Day 1  which is the CLIMATE CHANGE, GREEN FINANCE AND SUSTAINABILITY SUMMIT .

Variety is the Spice of Life – even for our planet.

Gold Standard and Verra VCS Listings are back with a Vengeance: Wein the latest UNPCCC report talks about the massive diversity of options to reduce emissions and mitigate Climate Change.  CTX is diverse in terms of credit standards and project types so every company can offset within its budget, and Reseller Brokers, Trading platforms and Sustainability consultants can offer the widest variety to meet any demand.

Of course, we want more trees saved or planted, but EVERY type of project can help, so we need more of everything, and your contributions via CTX are the much-needed Climate Finance to deliver outcomes.

The chart below was extracted from the latest UNPCCC Report – and below that see CTX doing its thing.

60 MW wind power project – India (Asia) (3 SDG’s)

Enercon Wind Farm in the state of Rajasthan, India.  Rajasthan is a state in northern India. It covers 342,239 square kilometres or 10.4% of India’s total geographical area. It is the largest Indian state by area and the seventh largest by population. The 60 MW wind power project will provide reliable, renewable power to the Rajasthan state electricity grid which is part of the Northern regional electricity grid. The Project harnesses renewable resources in the region and displaces non-renewable natural resources hence leading to sustainable economic and environmental development. The project also aims to empower women of Kotri by training them with the required skills to generate a sustainable source livelihood and income. The economic contribution of women has previously been invisible, especially in the rural areas. Clean Energy and diversity is powerful new energy mix

573 Kw Cattle dung Biogas to power 13 Villages – India (Asia) (2 SDG’s)

BioGas projects remove methane emitting animal waste and generates electricity also. This project consists of the installation of 13 independent biogas biodigesters that improve air quality, secure the provision of electricity, improve soil quality, and eliminate health hazards for the community. Without treatment, cattle manure is usually left to decay producing methane (CH4) with a warming potential 21+ times higher than C02, and carbon dioxide (CO2). The project recovers the cattle dung and converts it into high-quality enriched fertilizer hence reducing the use of chemicals. The by-products are utilized to produce electricity replacing fossil fuel intensive power generation from the local grid. The more efficient waste management system provides cleanliness to the surroundings and eliminates disease causing pathogens. Farms also become self-sufficient in power and monetize their waste. This project incentivizes other producers to invest in a biogas plant for their operations and showcase a success effort to curb CH4 emissions leading the way for the Indian dairy and livestock sector to be environmentally sustainable.

Sichuan Furong Coal Mine Methane Utilization (3 SDG’s)

Methane is considered a potential planet killer and coal mines leach millions of tons each year. This project located in the Yibin city in the Sichuan Province of China involves the installation of electricity generators with a combined capacity of 15MW for the generation of power using coal mine methane (“CMM”), accounting for emission reductions of 215,387tCO2e. The mine previously used a power plant and the Central China Power Grid (“CCPG”) for its energy provision. By buying this project you are not only contributing to lowering methane emissions from four mines but also the generation of electricity for the functioning of the mines themselves and residential and commercial use.
