Offset Colombia Carbon Tax Liability on Carbon Trade Exchange

Offset Colombia Carbon Tax Liability on Carbon Trade Exchange

The Colombia Carbon Tax is equivalent to approximately US$5/tCO2e and it is payable by producers and importers of fossil fuels.

In June 2017, the government introduced an amendment allowing Gold Standard carbon offsets to be used against the new carbon tax. Colombia allows entities to offset 100% of their tax liability for the year ending 31 December 2017.

The carbon tax establishes some high-level criteria that projects have to meet.

Carbon Trade Exchange (CTX) currently lists over 300,000 Gold Standard offsets that meet these criteria and cost less than $5 per tonne. What’s more, our Sales team has a pipeline of millions more offsets to come online as demand https://cialtad.com grows over the coming weeks

CTX is free to join and free to buy from. If you haven’t bought carbon credits before, our Sales & Trading team is on hand to support you with the process of buying and registering your offsets with the Colombian Ministry of Environment.

If you have any questions about the Colombia carbon tax or you would like to get started with offsetting your company’s 2017 tax liability, please contact josh.brown@ctxglobal.com or call our London sales team on +44 203 598 5890.
